I am looking for a Timer that will work on my computer, which has WindowsXP Pro, like a kitchen counter timer. You set it for, say, ten minutes, then "in the background" in counts down, and when ten minutes are up, it DINGs or calls out in some way. It seems a likely, simple utiility, but I can't find one. Does anyone here know of such a thing? Thanks.
Do you use Google Desktop by chance? I ask because there are a couple of timer gadgets for it. This one here looks simple enough.
I found this standalone freeware app which may do it for you. Let me know if it's what you're looking for.

Thank you! bttsoftware's "Egg Timer" is precisely what I was looking for. I just installed it, and it does exactly what I wanted. Thanks for your help. This appears to be a new forum. If so, you may wish to know that I found it by searching Google for "computer desktop timer". I wish you well with this forum! Francis
Glad I could help. And yes, it is quite new. Smile
